Overview

Telling the part the pamphlet leaves out.

When someone is newly diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, the literature handed to them tells the medical story — A1Cs, ratios, infusion sets. It rarely captures the human story: what the first month actually feels like, how friendships shift, how routines re-form.

HowToDiabetes was a short film built to fill that gap — a calm, honest, first-person walk through the daily mechanics and the quiet adjustments that come with a chronic diagnosis.

Lessons

What this taught me.

Storytelling beats statistics when the goal is understanding. The right two minutes of film can do what a stack of pamphlets cannot — give a stranger a felt sense of someone else's life.

That principle still shapes how I write product pages, brand copy, and onboarding flows today.
